At the beginning of 1994's The Scout, Albert Brooks's Al Percolo attempts to convince a young pitching prospect's parents to let their son play baseball professionally. He sees their reluctance so he pretends to be vegan like they are.

The Rookie (2002) tells the story of Hunter Knowles (a 38-year-old mechanic) who tries out for the Anaheim Angels and gets signed. He later realizes his dream of pitching in the Big Leagues when he gets called up to start against the Oakland A's.
